Le sixième de mai – Cafe Bastille – Happy Hour – 6pm!

From dan “balls” soha:

So, let’s start off with a history lesson.  Yesterday, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo.  Cinco de Mayo celebrates  Mexico’s “shocking” victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862 (is a victory over France ever that shocking?).  They don’t celebrate in Mexico, but *we* do because we take every opportunity to get drunk.

Today, we celebrate the anniversary of the day after.  The French were crushed and the ones that lived probably drank a whole bunch.  Soooo…. Le Sixieme de Mai!  In honor of this epic failure, we’re going to Cafe Bastille on Belden Lane at 6pm for Happy Hour.

22 Belden Place
(between Bush St & Pine St)
San Francisco, CA 94104

please come!  bring friends, coworkers, and the guy that made you regret wearing sandals at the urinal

I think it is not only because we take every opportunity to get drunk :) The US helped Mexico to expel the French:
“Maximilian’s rule of Mexico was also short lived, from 1864 to 1867. With the American Civil War now over, the U.S. began to provide more political and military assistance to Mexico to expel the French, after which Maximilian was executed by the Mexicans”

Being Mexican one day and French the next doesn’t mean you have an excuse to drink. It means you have Xenoscitzophrenia, which is only treatable by eating the 3:30pm early supper special @ Old Country Buffet.
